The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible to provide functional database services to the organization. The DBA will be tasked with owning, tracking and resolving database-centric occurrences and inquiries, satisfying these inquiries and incidents, as well as assessing service-related components such as database backups, maintenance orders plus habitual monitoring to ensure operational issues are quickly remedied appropriately. The DBA must react to database alerts and collaborate with the rest of team to define strategic solutions to recurring problems.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science).
- 3 - 5 Years’ Experience in Information Technology field.
RESBONSIBILITIES:
- Designs databases or designs changes to database and understand how changes to be made affect the database
- Establishes database guidelines and procedures.
- Codes database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database-to-database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions.
- Determine optimum values for database such as amount of computer memory to be used by database.
- Establishes which users can access databases and what data can be accessed.
- Test and correct error, and defines changes to database.
- Create production databases.
- Monitors database performance
- Train and answers user questions.
Support application developers
- Coordinates with peers to determine impact of database changes on other IT and business systems.
- Modifies database programs to increase performance tuning.
- Create and implement enterprise database backup strategies.
- Responsible for database recoveries, including the timely testing of recoveries.
