General Accounting Technician - Manpower Middle East


Our client, a renowned transportation and logistics company is currently looking for a General Accounting Technician.







Job Purpose



• Performs routine financial accounting & record keeping for one or more legal entities in accordance with locally defined procedures & control standards.



• Performs a range of ad-hoc duties within the different Finance functions/areas that are required in order for the Department to achieve its objectives & deadlines.







Job Size



• Typically performs several routine accounting functions within one or more legal entities & needs to comply with different accounting, fiscal, payroll, pension regulations







Key Accountabilities



• Performs miscellaneous cashiering duties in accordance with defined standards & procedures. Includes coding, reconciling & researching & resolving discrepancies with the Company’s bank/s.



• Supports the department in achieving deadlines & objectives by performing defined cover for different finance functions/roles including less complex aspects of Financial Accountant duties.



• Performs work accurately and in accordance with defined procedures & standards. Escalates unresolved or serious issues encountered.



• Acts as a focal point for researching exceptions, errors & feedback received via the FSSC & co-ordinates related activities, as required. Includes incorrect coding, duplicated invoices, inter-company transactions etc.



• Performs less complex accounting duties including maintaining the fixed asset register, standard journals & reconciliation’s, less complex aspects of VAT etc. May perform general vendor statement reconciliation.



• Researches & resolves issues relating to identified invoice discrepancies for GSPs & larger vendors. Includes liasing directly with the vendor/GSP & relevant company personnel & providing relevant data to Management/ Accountants.



• Supports management/accountants with developing & implementing defined aspects of process improvements including automation initiatives.



• With an appropriate level of guidance, produces defined statutory & statistical reporting. Includes accurately extracting & collating relevant information, structuring it in the required formats.



• Performs analysis of miscellaneous statistical information, researching underlying causes & trends. Produces appropriate reports for management (e.g. bad debt, duty & taxes, overtime etc), including relevant support documentation. Under guidance may perform analysis of more complex areas.



• Performs timely validation & processing of T&E claims in readiness for centralised payment by performing defined procedural checks to ensure accuracy, completeness & compliance with locally defined standards.



• Develops a good knowledge of general accepted accounting principles, the company’s accounting & financial P&P together with local statutory & regulatory requirements.
