Description

Manages all costs relating to MEP engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Surveyors seek to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Many of these are specified by statutory building regulations, which the surveyor needs to understand and adhere to.

Duties and Responsibilities

o Preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills and other documentation

o Tabulation of price comparison and cost summary

o Manage all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects

o To carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales

o Provide a report to the Procurement Manager and provide advice in decision making processes throughout the project management from start to finish

o Recording and monitoring of all site activities and costs being expended on the projects

o Reports on the reconciliation of materials and works executed during the month

o Maintain all QS documents and logs

o Coordinate with all company departments as required for the execution of the projects

o Prepare and monitor contractors project cash flow forecasts

o Undertaking cost analysis

o Supervising Quantity Surveyor staff

Profile

Minimum 5 years quantity surveying experience within MEP contracting organization

Good level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and processes leading to successful delivery within budget

Experience in negotiation strategies with ability to clearly reason any dispute

Must be thorough, competent and good at making estimates of cost and project cost control

Ability to work well within a team based environment

Ability to clearly deliver information to peers in a manner that is readily understood and accurate

Ability to plan and manage time to achieve results on multiple tasks/projects

Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals both inside and outside the organization

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong numerical and IT skills
