The primary role of the Mechanical Engineering Manager is to manage a team of four to eight mechanical engineers and designers. This person will direct staff on a day-to-day basis to develop mechanical design documentation on multiple concurrent projects. This person will assign and distribute workload to the team. They will also be responsible for preparing proposals, including estimating mechanical labor hours. The role requires a thorough understanding of the development of design documents through conceptual, preliminary, and construction document stages (P&IDs, distribution plans, floor plans, specifications, etc. for construction). This role also requires thorough understanding of the construction support role of the engineering staff, and the ability to provide cost estimates for the appropriate level of support.
